Language Support
At Westside Preparatory School we recognize that our students will grow up to become citizens of a globalised world. We offer English language support to help those students who are new to Canada, or learning English, to access the curriculum and become proficient communicators in academic and social contexts.
Language Support courses are designed to further the intellectual, social, and career development of students by helping them:
1. Strengthen their ability to communicate fluently in English at school and in the wider community
2. Acquire the English needed to make academic progress within the B.C. school system and develop their potential
3. Develop their other skills (e.g., numeracy, media awareness, scientific understanding, group participation)
4. Experience and affirm a sense of self-worth rooted in pride in their heritage
Develop an understanding of the similarities and differences between their home culture and the value system upon which their schooling is based.
Language support is offered at all grade levels.
